Sharper records. Clearer insights.

turnKeyRM has integrated all five national priority persistent identifiers (ROR, ORCID, RAiD, DOI and IGSN). Organisations, researchers, projects, outputs and samples are confirmed at the source rather than re-keyed, which means less admin for your team and records that funders and reviewers can check.

Our Approach

Identifiers built in, not bolted on

Persistent identifiers only deliver value when they are part of everyday research management. In turnKeyRM they sit natively on the records you already use, inside the same Salesforce platform that runs your projects, stakeholders, funding and governance. There is no separate system to maintain and nothing to reconcile by hand.

  • Confirmed at the source. turnKeyRM connects directly to the issuing registries, so what staff see is current and verifiable, not retyped.
  • Connected around the project. The identifiers link to each other, so the more complete your records, the more connected your research becomes.
  • Safe by design. Test environments, control over what is shared and restricted permissions protect unfinished work before anything becomes public.
  • Visible progress. The PID Insights dashboard shows how far you have got and what to tackle next.

The Australian National PID Strategy asks institutions to invest in these five identifiers first, and they strengthen research integrity by making claims about who did what, and where, checkable rather than taken on trust. Foveal installs and configures the suite in your Salesforce org and guides you through registering with each issuing service.

Core functional areas

Five identifiers that connect your research from people to samples

Five connected identifiers link your people, organisations, outputs and samples to the project at the centre, so the whole research record is verifiable in one place.

1. ROR: organisations

Every research organisation gets one global identifier, so partners, institutions and funders are named unambiguously across projects and reports.

turnKeyRM provides:

  • Matching of organisation records to the ROR registry, one at a time or in bulk
  • Automatic confirmation of exact matches, with uncertain matches flagged for review
  • A confirmed ROR ID that becomes the lead organisation on a project’s RAiD

2. ORCID: researchers

An ORCID iD is a researcher’s own lifelong identifier, and turnKeyRM collects it the way ORCID recommends: through the researcher’s own sign-in.

turnKeyRM enables:

  • Verification requests sent from the contact record, by branded email or a link you send yourself
  • Researchers confirming their iD themselves, sharing only their iD and name
  • Staff-found iDs held as suggestions until the researcher confirms them

3. RAiD: projects

A RAiD gives each research project a permanent, citable identity with a public page for its title, dates, leader and lead organisation.

turnKeyRM provides:

  • Registration of a RAiD directly from the Project record, after checking for an existing one
  • Control over what is shared: reword the title, choose which descriptions to send, and embargo a record for up to 18 months
  • Editing and refreshing of the RAiD from turnKeyRM as the project evolves

4. DOI: outputs and publications

A DOI is a permanent, citable link for a research output such as a dataset, report or publication.

turnKeyRM enables:

  • Registration of DOIs for Outputs and Disseminations, or linking of DOIs that already exist
  • DataCite supported today, including access through the ARDC service, with a design that allows other registration agencies to be added
  • A test environment to practise in first, and only verified ORCID iDs included for authors

5. IGSN: physical samples

An IGSN gives a physical research sample its own persistent identifier, so samples can be cited and traced alongside the projects and outputs they relate to.

turnKeyRM now provides:

  • IGSN as the fifth priority identifier, completing national PID coverage within the CRIS
  • Samples identified in the same environment as projects, people, organisations and outputs

Together, the five identifiers give you a connected, verifiable record of your research, with less re-keying for researchers and more confidence for funders, reviewers and readers.
